Ten things I refuse to admit to myself. This week I learned more from my own poetry than anything else. That might sound conceited, take it as you may, but it is truth. I followed the prompt, "ten things I know to be true." I did not say, "the sky is blue," or "my eyes are green," but instead listed things that, somewhere deep inside, I know are true. Most of them were things I do not even like to admit to myself, like how I spent years of my life being mad at my father for not being home, or how I lie to myself on a constant biases. I learned that you should not run from your fears and mistakes, (thank you Macbeth), because they will find you, consume you, and drive you mad.
I also learned that doing as you are told does not always get you where you want to go. At some point every person has a choice to make, are you going to stay on the path that was laid out for you, or are you going to do what makes you happy? This is the choice that I am trying to make right now, we will see how this goes.
