The true and classic tragedy. Oedipus is warned and in trying for all his life to not have the prophecy come true he fulfills it. The real tragic part, I think, is that if his parents had just kept him and raised him none of these horrific things would have happened. Is the lesson here "not to listen to birds,"? Or maybe, " take care of your children."? Who truly knows? (Anyone who might have is dead.) What ever the moral may be, this story is truly tragic. Yes, Oedipus was arrogant, but I do not think that anyone deserves the fate to which he was damned.
Speaking of fate and life, the reality of Senior Year is really starting to crash in on me. It is so crazy that this journey, that foe so long seemed endless, is actually coming to an end. As I am quickly running out of time, I have decided that now is as good a time as ever to start making some changes. Considering priorities and lifestyle changes has shown me a few different things. First of all, I was reminded of a video that we watched at the beginning of the year where a high ranking military person said, "success begins with making your bed." (or something to that effect) so that is what i have begun to do. Seems to be such a silly thing to start doing at 17, but I have found that I am actually much more focused and driven through the day. I have found that my tasks do not seem as daunting, after all, it is only 6:30 a.m., and I have already made my bed.
